Betty Little to head Senate parks committee

State Senator Betty Little (R-Queensbury), will chair the Senate’s Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation Committee this year. a committee she has served on since being elected to the Senate.  Little is serving her fourth Senate term representing six North Country counties: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington.  Previously, she served in the NYS Assembly for seven years.

We congratulate Senator Little and look forward to working with her on critical park issues.

    Unfortunately, Betty Little is the legislature’s staunchest opponent of state funded recreation opportunities. She is an opponent of the Forest Preserve system and the Adirondack Park in particular. She also opposes (and has help hold-up) state purchases of critical habitat in the Adirondacks and the appointment of Adirondack businessman Pete Hornbeck to the Adirondack Park Agency on the grounds that he is an environmentalist.

    This is far from good news – in fact, I doubt it could be worse.
