Trail Tip: Location markers for first responders

The identification label on this sign helps emergency responders find the location

Recently the City of Rochester installed GPS marker locations for 911 calls on the Genesee Riverway Trail, at Turning Point Park.  The “TP number” on the marker, seen here on the left, corresponds to a GPS location for the 911 operators to direct emergency responders.  This is a great tool to increase safety on remote trail locations. It’s simple and inexpensive to install, and could significantly improve response times.
