In just one month, volunteers from across the state will show their love for state parks on Saturday, May 5 for the first-ever I Love My Park Day. It’s a great way to give back to the parks you use and enjoy throughout the year.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll highlight some of the exciting projects planned at more than 30 state parks and historic sites across New York. For example, originally established in 1898 as a trolley park, Midway State Park is one of the oldest continually operating amusement parks in the nation. From 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, volunteers will be painting the arcade and office buildings, working on landscaping around both buildings, planting flowers in a rain garden and planters, and helping to spruce up the park for opening weekend. Volunteers are asked to bring garden gloves, water, a snack and lunch. All ages are welcome.
I Love My Park Day is coordinated statewide by Parks & Trails New York in collaboration with the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
