It’s crunch time for federal transportation funding and the inclusion of provisions for bicycling and walking. Please join thousands across the nation today for a National Call-in Day on Transportation.
It’s easy and will only take a few minutes.
Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your representative as well as Senators Gillibrand and Schumer.
Here’s a short script you can use.
I urge you to preserve the strong, bipartisan provisions contained in the Senate’s transportation bill, known as Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). Map-21 ensures local communities’ access to transportation enhancements and safe routes to school funding and other programs that will make walking and biking safer, provide opportunities for healthy physical activity, stimulate local economies, and add to the quality of life of our communities.
Specifically, I hope you preserve the local grant program from the Cardin-Cochran amendment of MAP-21 and reject the House’s proposal for regulatory streamlining, that would gut the environmental review process and take away local community input on transportation projects.
Three quick phone calls tomorrow can set the course for a brighter transportation future– one that is more than just cars– for years to come.
