Re-water the Erie Canal in Rochester?

The City of Rochester is updating its Center City Master Plan. They are asking for input on what they think the City’s top priorities should be. One initiative the city is looking into is the re-watering of the historic Erie Canal.Part of this project would include re-watering the section of the Canal over the Broad St. Aqueduct – itself a fascinating piece of engineering that once carried a subway! Read more here on the Rochester Wiki page. Not many people know Rochester once had a subway system! Have you ever heard of a canal being turned into a subway? The subway eventually lost out to the car as a mode of travel and closed to passenger travel in the 1950s.
